Job summary

HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is seeking an OR PRN RN on‑call. The role involves providing professional perioperative nursing care in the operating room, coordinating with the surgical team, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative period.

Experience in perioperative nursing, current RN licensure, and BLS are required. This on‑call position supports the surgical services team and patient care during weeknights and weekend nights.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or higher)
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the practicing state or holds an active Compact/Multi-State RN license
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification
• Minimum of 1-year perioperative nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Provide professional surgical nursing care to patients using the nursing process and collaborate with physicians and the health care team
• Ensure effective communication with surgical technologists, other RNs, surgeons, patients and families
• Organize supplies needed for patients and maintain a sterile operating room
• Assess patients before, during, and after surgery and perform count procedures to prevent retained objects
• Maintain patient status of genitourinary, GI, MSK, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological systems during procedures
• Administer medications per physician orders
• Involve patients or their designated support person in decisions affecting post‑operative care and rehabilitation
