Job summary

The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research located in Frederick, MD seeks a skilled maintenance technician to support the Facilities, Maintenance & Engineering division. You will perform mechanical maintenance, install laboratory equipment, and ensure adherence to safety standards while collaborating with engineers, managers, and vendors.

Applicants should have a minimum of five years of mechanical experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to read specifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five years of mechanical-related experience.
• Ability to read specifications, machine manuals and blueprints.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
• Capable of working with safety regulations and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and install machines, then test for proper operation.
• Inspect equipment and determine necessary repairs or adjustments.
• Install diverse laboratory machinery as needed.
• Follow approved safety regulations while performing tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance and lubricate moving parts.
• Read blueprints and work orders; disassemble/repair equipment as required.
• Work independently using standard trade techniques.
• Be available for occasional after-hours emergency repairs.
