Job summary

Miami-County-Kansas is seeking an on-call Juvenile Intake and Assessment Assistant to cover the Bourbon and Linn County area. The position is on-call about one week per month with a $350 weekly stipend when on call, plus hourly pay when called into work. Weekday on-call: 5:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m., Monday–Friday; Weekend on-call: 5:00 p.m.

Friday–8:00 a.m. Monday. The role requires age 21+, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older.
High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credit hours in behavioral science, criminal justice, political science, psychology, sociology or related field preferred.
Prior experience working with juveniles and knowledge of legal system/resources preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
Be available during scheduled time to respond within 30 minutes to complete Juvenile Intake & Assessment at local law enforcement agencies.

Responsibilities

On-call during scheduled time to respond in 30 minutes to Juvenile Intake & Assessment at local law enforcement agencies.
Maintain paperwork and be ready to respond to agencies.
Check and respond to agency emails, calls, or texts.
Handle crisis and stressful situations involving youth and families.
Submit time sheets for stipends and call-outs.
Attend required annual training (20 hours) per KDOC standards.
Communicate schedule changes to Program Supervisor/Director.
Attend staff meetings and trainings.
