Job summary

Riley County, KS is seeking an On-Call Juvenile Intake & Assessment Officer responsible for conducting intake and assessment of CINC, SO, and JO cases in coordination with law enforcement, and arranging emergency placements during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The position requires strong interview skills, trauma-informed approach, and knowledge of Kansas Juvenile Justice Code, with responsibilities including screening, case coordination, and completion of state forms.

Qualifications

• Requires a HS diploma or GED with preferred college coursework in human services.
• Knowledge of RCCC Policies, KDOC JIA Standards, and Kansas Juvenile Justice Code is needed.
• Ability to assess youth and coordinate placements with care and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist law enforcement to screen and place children/in need of care and offenders during specified hours.
• Assess youth participation in interviews considering age, impairment, and trauma.
• Refer youth to services based on intake assessment results.
• Prepare state-mandated forms and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of Kansas Juvenile Justice Code and RCCC procedures.
