Job summary

Miami-County-Kansas seeks a Juvenile Intake Officer to perform intake assessments for youths in custody. The role is on-call about one week per month, with a $350 weekly stipend when on call and hourly pay when called into work.

Duties include completing assessments, responding to agencies, and documenting activities. Requirements include being 21+, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license; college credits in behavioral sciences are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; college credit hours in behavioral sciences, criminal justice, political science, psychology, sociology or related field preferred.
• Prior experience working with juveniles and knowledge of the legal system preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Available to respond within 30 minutes during scheduled on-call time.

Responsibilities

• On-call during scheduled time to respond within 30 minutes to complete Juvenile Intake and Assessment at local law enforcement agencies.
• Maintain Juvenile Intake and Assessment Services paperwork and be ready to respond to agencies.
• Check and respond to emails, phone calls or texts from agencies.
• Handle crisis and stressful situations involving youth and families.
• Turn in timesheets for stipend and document when intake is completed; complete required training.
