Job summary

The Alaska Department of Corrections seeks a temporary/on-call Jail Officer to manage inmate safety and security at the CBS Community Jail. Under supervision, you will supervise inmates, perform bookings, conduct hourly checks, document activities, and coordinate transfers with other agencies.

Applicants should have a HS diploma or GED, basic security experience, First Aid/CPR, and Alaska Corrections Academy certification or equivalent within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior security or law enforcement experience preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification required or must be obtained within 90 days.
• Alaska Corrections Academy certification within 12 months or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates and maintains jail security.
• Performs booking, fingerprinting, and documentation per ACOMS.
• Conducts hourly cell checks and documents activities.
• Provides meals, arranges medical care, and transports inmates to court or hospital.
• Coordinates with agencies for remand and release; helps with dispatch as needed.
• Maintains sanitation and supervises visitors, staff, and contractors.
