Job summary

ITG Communications is seeking a Drill Operator in Fayetteville, NC to install conduit, fiber and utility infrastructure as part of active construction projects. This safety-sensitive role requires practical drilling experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in varied weather.

You will read construction plans, mark utilities, perform inspections, and coordinate with field crews while maintaining accurate bore logs and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of directional drilling experience or equivalent training.
• Familiarity with Ditch Witch or Vermeer HDD equipment is a plus.
• Ability to read construction plans and understand underground utility locates.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate drilling rigs and support equipment to install underground utilities according to project specifications.
• Read and interpret construction prints, locate utilities, and mark underground services accurately.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and basic equipment maintenance.
• Ensure proper placement of conduit using bore logs and tracking systems.
• Collaborate with field crews to set up equipment, mix drilling fluid, and pull back conduit or pipe.
• Maintain accurate records of bore lengths, depths, and site conditions.
• Adhere to all company and regulatory safety procedures and requirements.
• Assist with potholing, locating, trenching, or other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Work in various terrain and weather conditions while maintaining productivity and quality.
