Job summary

ITG Communications in Nashville, TN is seeking a Drill Operator to operate horizontal directional drilling equipment installing conduit, fiber and utilities on construction sites. The role requires reading prints, locating utilities, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintaining bore records while following safety procedures.

You will collaborate with field crews, adapt to varied terrain and weather, and ensure bore accuracy and timely completion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1-3 years of directional drilling experience or equivalent training.
• Familiarity with Ditch Witch or Vermeer HDD equipment a plus.
• Ability to read construction plans and understand underground utility locates.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate drilling rigs and support equipment to install underground utilities according to project specifications.
• Read and interpret construction prints, locate utilities, and mark underground services accurately.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and basic equipment maintenance.
• Ensure proper placement of conduit using bore logs and tracking systems.
• Collaborate with field crews to set up equipment, mix drilling fluid, and pull back conduit or pipe.
• Maintain accurate records of bore lengths, depths, and site conditions.
• Adhere to all company and regulatory safety procedures and requirements.
• Assist with potholing, locating, trenching, or other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Work in various terrain and weather conditions while maintaining productivity and quality.
