Job summary

The City of Irving is seeking a qualified technician to design, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain communications hardware and software for fixed wireless networks including P25 systems. You will support mobile radio gear, MDT computers, and related equipment while ensuring preventive maintenance and accurate records.

Requirements include an Associate degree or equivalent, 3 years of related experience, proficiency in MS Office and Windows, familiarity with radio programming software,

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Three years of job-related experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with radio programming software and an FCC license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining communications hardware and software used in fixed wireless networks including P25 systems.
• Installing, maintaining and repairing 12-volt mobile communications equipment and related gear.
• Provide technical assistance and support to communications system users.
• Perform routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance; document records and respond to outages or emergencies.
