Job summary

Matson, Inc. in Tacoma, WA is seeking an on-call Facility Maintenance Person-Casual to support a three-person team and occasionally move to full-time coverage. The role focuses on short-term repairs for vehicles, equipment, and the facility, with major repairs handled by third parties.

Starting pay is $33.83 per hour and wage increases occur under a Teamsters contract. Candidates must obtain a TWIC card, CDL-A with Air Brakes endorsements, and a valid DOT medical card. Background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate using the English language.
• Must become a Teamster 763 union member if hired.
• Work indoors and outdoors.
• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions while performing maintenance.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on your own.

Responsibilities

• Assist Facility Maintenance under general supervision of the Shop Lead.
• Comply with OSHA safe working rules and regulations along with FMCSA job specific requirements.
• Perform a range of repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Regularly maintain, inspect prior to and post use of safety equipment for personal protection.
• Attend and pass training for OSHA, Company, & job specific requirements such as but not limited to hazardous materials, eyewash, fire extinguisher, etc.
• Must be Forklift and Top Pick certified within 90 days and maintain those qualifications.
• Ensure electrical and electronic items are inspected and serviced to remain operational.
• Perform Facility maintenance and Freight Yard maintenance.
• Perform mounted tire replacement.
• Refuel, lubricate, and perform services on all types of equipment, tractors, forklifts, generators, chassis, and other power equipment, as needed or directed.
• Work is performed with only general supervision. Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Leadman.
