Job summary

Matson is seeking an on-call Facility Maintenance Person-Casual to support a three-person Tacoma team. You will perform short-term vehicle and equipment repairs to keep freight moving, with potential to transition to full-time. The role requires a CDL-A with Air Brakes, TWIC, and DOT compliance.

The position is based at 1675 Lincoln Avenue Loop, Tacoma, WA, and candidates must pass DOT testing and background checks. Union membership and safety training are integral to this role.

Qualifications

• Must be a Teamster 763 union member if hired.
• Must read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess a valid CDL Class A with Air Brakes endorsements.
• Must be able to pass a DOT drug and alcohol test and a background check.
• Must obtain and maintain a TWIC card.

Responsibilities

• Assist Facility Maintenance under general supervision of the Shop Lead.
• Perform a range of repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Attend and pass OSHA, Company, and job-specific training.
• Maintain safety equipment inspection and usage protocols.
• Refuel, lubricate, and service various equipment per directions.
• Maintain facilities and freight yard; mount tire replacements.
