Job summary

Catholic Community Schools in Minnesota is seeking On-call Substitute Teachers for PreK-5 grades. The substitute will follow lesson plans, maintain routines, and support a safe, welcoming classroom environment in the absence of the classroom teacher.

Five elementary campuses are included. The role offers an on-call schedule, a daily rate of $150 for full-day assignments, and Sick Time accrual. Background checks and safe-environment training are required prior to starting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Preferred: Minnesota Teaching License or Short Call Substitute Teaching License.
• Experience working with children, preferably in elementary or early childhood settings.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Dependability, flexibility, and sound judgment.
• Successful completion of required background screening and safe-environment training before beginning assignments.
• Ability to perform essential classroom and student supervision duties.

Responsibilities

• Follow the classroom teacher’s lesson plans and established routines; seek guidance when plans aren’t available.
• Take attendance accurately and follow attendance procedures.
• Maintain a respectful classroom environment and address student behavior per procedures.
• Supervise students during classroom activities and transitions.
• Follow safety and emergency procedures and report injuries or concerns promptly.
• Follow child-protection and mandated-reporting requirements.
• Protect confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries.
• Use school-approved technology and instructional resources.
• Communicate respectfully with students, families, faculty, staff, and admins.
• Support Catholic school routines and activities as directed.
• Leave a brief summary of completed lessons and progress for follow-up.
