Job summary

The City of Georgetown, TX is seeking an Electric Distribution Troubleman/Journeyman Lineman to respond to disturbances, outages, and power-quality issues. You will work on overhead and underground systems from a bucket, perform repairs, and mentor apprentices while maintaining safety and strong customer communication.

Required are a high school diploma, DoL Journeyman certification or equivalent training, and ability to work on energized lines.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of full-time related experience as an electrical journeyman lineman or equivalent training.
• Certification from the Department of Labor as a Journeyman Lineman or completion of approved apprentice programs.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership, safety, and training capabilities; 18+ years of age.

Responsibilities

• Investigates electrical disturbances, outages, and power quality issues and restores the distribution system.
• Troubleshoots outages and communicates with customers during events.
• Works from aerial bucket to assemble and repair equipment on energized lines.
• Maintains safety by de-energizing lines, barricading, and coordinating with city departments.
• Mentors Apprentice Linemen in the training program.
• Performs maintenance on electrical equipment and tools; tailboard safety briefings.
• Performs other assigned duties as required.
