Job summary

JCC Greater Boston is seeking a Substitute Teacher (As-Needed/On-Call) to support classroom staff and ensure a safe, engaging environment for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. The role offers an hourly rate of $18.00–$21.50 with scheduling varying by organizational needs.

Under the direction of ELC Directors, you will facilitate developmentally appropriate curriculum, collaborate with co-teachers, and help maintain ratios and a positive classroom culture.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• EEC certification preferred but not required.
• 6 months+ experience with young children preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with children and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of classroom goals.
• Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play, learn and take risks.
• Assist in classrooms across age groups to maintain ratios and support transitions.
• Communicate effectively with teaching teams and report concerns to the Director.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and EEC regulations.
