Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Custodian to cover for the regular custodian and help maintain school buildings and grounds in operating condition to support a safe learning environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning, operating floor machines, regulating building systems, reporting hazards, and assisting with other buildings as needed. HS diploma preferred; prior experience welcome; punctual attendance required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in keeping assigned building and premises neat, clean, and safe at all times.
• Help regulate heat and electricity; close windows, doors, and turn off unneeded lights and appliances.
• Check and report to the day engineer any unsafe situations that could cause health or safety hazards.
• Insure sidewalks, stairs, and exits are free of snow and ice in winter as needed.
• Clean and maintain assigned work area as directed by the day engineer.
• Assist with work assignments in another building when assigned.
• Comply with local laws on storage and disposal of trash, waste, and flammable liquids.
• Strive to improve knowledge of all custodial related jobs.
• Follow safety procedures.
• Dress in a neat and clean manner appropriate for the job.
• Operate power floor machines, scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet maintenance machines.
• Refill and make minor repairs on dispensing machines.
• Prompt, regular attendance.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by day engineer or building principal.
