Job summary

Prairie-Hills Elementary School District 144 is seeking a Substitute Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly school environment on an as-needed basis. The role supports daily operations by performing routine cleaning and basic setup tasks for events, under the direction of the Director of Operations and Building Principal.

This on-call position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, the ability to follow directions, physical capability for custodial tasks, and dependable,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.
• Ability to perform physical tasks related to custodial duties.
• Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
• Replenish supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper.
• Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Follow established safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
• Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or building needs to supervisor.
• Secure building areas as directed, including locking doors and checking facilities.
• Maintain a professional and cooperative working relationship with staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
