Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking an on-call CPR Instructor to train district employees in CPR per American Heart Association guidelines. Under supervision, you will teach, assess, and support learners across varying levels of CPR certification renewal and initial instruction.

You will manage equipment setup, operate AV gear, and provide clear, patient instruction while maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment for diverse staff groups.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum one year of training experience with strong communication skills.

CPR is the noninvasive assessment and intervention used to treat victims of cardiovascular and/or respiratory emergencies and stroke. CPR instructor may be teaching employees who may never have taken a CPR class before to those who are renewing the CPR certification. CPR courses are taught in accordance with current American Heart Association guidelines.

Qualifications

• Licenses/Certificates: Current American Heart Association Instructor at the level being taught (BLS) and American Health Association healthcare provider.

Special Considerations

This is an on-call position and hours are days, evenings and Saturdays.

• Adult vs. Pediatric: Adjust compression depth, hand placement, and breath ratios for children.


• Manikin Maintenance: Clean, sanitize, and replace lung bags in training equipment.


• Classroom Management: Lead diverse groups, manage time, and maintain an organized environment.


• Skill Evaluation: Watch students closely to correct posture, depth, and compression rate.


• First Aid Integration: Teach bleeding control, shock management, and epi-pen administration.


• Legal Protections: Explain Good Samaritan laws and the concept of implied consent.
