Job summary

Alpharus Health is seeking a Substance Use Counselor (On-Call) to provide intake, comprehensive assessments, and discharge planning for offenders at the Marquette Branch Prison in Michigan.

You will deliver evidence-based group therapy for up to 15 offenders, document progress, and ensure MDOC contract compliance, with flexible daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2+ years' experience or Master's with 1+ year.
• Experience in substance abuse field with counseling, assessment, treatment planning and group therapy; working with offender population.
• Clinical licensure and/or certification in Michigan or eligibility with MCBA.
• Ability to follow MDOC directives and adapt to facility scheduling.
• Independent work or teamwork capability; openness to supervision.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Provides group orientation, individual intake, comprehensive assessment, mid-program assessment and discharge planning including aftercare recommendations.
• Documents treatment and discharge plans, and client's progress and responses to treatment; maintains related records.
• Provides evidence-based group therapy for up to 15 offenders per group.
• Provides individual segregation discharges as needed for offenders terminated from services.
• Completes reporting requirements.
• Adheres to MDOC policies and procedures and maintains professional boundaries with offenders.
• Navigates between internal electronic health record and MDOC system for reporting.
