Job summary

Grand Canyon University seeks a full-time Electrician to install and repair electrical systems in GCU buildings. Responsibilities include wiring, distribution systems, and compliance with the National Electric Code.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an electrician, with at least 2 years in commercial systems.
• Journeyman electrician license/certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• On-call availability and ability to pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan layout, install and repair wiring, fixtures, and control equipment.
• Install, maintain, modify, and repair electrical distribution systems and equipment.
• Inspect and test components per National Electric Code; test transformers and switchgear.
• Identify electrical problems using testing devices and take corrective action.
• Obtain price quotations and submit purchase orders for materials.
• Handle work orders and complete tasks on schedule; adjust procedures to meet production schedules.
• Observe safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Record detailed assignments in the work order system including hours.
• Be part of rotating on-call roster and perform other duties as assigned.
