Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and create positive cinema experiences for SIFF customers.
  • Sell ticketing and concessions while maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
  • Manage entry and guide customers, assist with line management.
  • Complete shift duties including opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of concessions, restrooms, lobby and theatres; ensure auditorium safety.

Work Environment

This position will work onsite at SIFF Cinemas in Seattle, WA. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to interact with patrons and coworkers, stand and sit for extended periods, physically assist patrons as needed, and lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.




  • This position will work onsite at specified theaters. On-Call Staff are expected to pick up a shift once in a 120 calendar day period.

  • On-Call staff are expected to follow policy On-Call Employee's Policy



Mission

SIFF is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) arts nonprofit dedicated to the creation of vibrant experiences and spaces that champion film discovery and arts education. Beginning in 1976 with the annual Seattle International Film Festival, then expanding into year-round programming, SIFF envisions a thriving arts ecosystem where film discovery encourages a more empathetic, joyful, and connected world. In its three theaters, SIFF offers screenings and special programs throughout the year. Job Summary

The SIFF On-Call Cinema Floor Staff are responsible for ensuring excellent customer service and cinema going experiences to SIFF Cinema customers and guests.




  • Provide excellent customer service and positive cinema going experiences to all SIFF Cinema customers and guests

  • Sell ticketing and concessions items while maintaining a balanced cash drawer and providing excellent customer service

  • Act as access control for entry to the cinema, scanning tickets & passes, and directing customers to areas within the cinema. Assists with line management, as needed

  • Complete all assigned tasks each shift; including box office & concessions opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks

  • Maintain cleanliness in concession area, restrooms, lobby and theaters, including completing recurring cleaning tasks, and the cleaning of auditoriums after each screening

  • Conduct auditorium checks, as scheduled throughout the shift, to ensure picture & sound presentation are good, as well as ensuring audience members are not being disruptive

  • Ensure concessions stock is properly maintained throughout shift

  • Provide general information about SIFF and its programs to customers

  • Communicate facilities issues and customer concerns to the Cinema Management Team

  • Keep current on SIFF programming, series and programs, events, and schedules

  • Assist with event set-up and breakdown, when needed

  • Assist in nightly changes to marquees and poster cases, when needed

  • Other duties as assigned



Required Skills/Abilities


  • 1+ years of cash handling experience

  • 1+ years of customer service experience

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Current Food Handler's Card & Class 12 Mixologist Permit obtained in WA State, or ability to obtain them, required

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule consisting of nights, weekends and holidays. (Holiday and weekend availability is required)

  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity
