Job summary

Shaner Hotels, including the Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection in Sarasota, Florida, seeks a Banquet Server to provide exceptional service during events. You will set up tables, serve food and beverages, and ensure guest satisfaction while maintaining spotless work areas and equipment.

Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is required, with a focus on safety, courtesy, and knowledge of local attractions to assist guests effectively.

Qualifications

• Prior banquet operations and/or hospitality experience preferred.
• Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers.
• High school graduate or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.
• ServSafe and/or food safety training.
• Alcohol awareness training (TIPS).
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.

Responsibilities

• Set up assigned tables and retrieve and serve beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications and group requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment.
• Attend to guests with professionalism and promptness during events and banquets.

• Maintains food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specifications.
• Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating at tables.
• Take and retrieve guests' alcoholic beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques, when specified on function requirements.
• Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with departmental standards and function requirements.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests; always maintain positive guest relations.
• Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
