Job summary

Langan is seeking On Call Archaeological/Cultural Resource Technicians in San Luis Obispo County, CA to support field and desktop tasks with a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates have degrees in related fields and experience with NHPA/ARPA/NAGPRA, ArcGIS, and data documentation. Expect on-site work across various locations, with opportunities to transition to part-time or full-time roles based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field.
• An understanding of NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA and related regulations preferred.
• Ability to obtain Hazwoper Certification and pass required tests.
• 3+ years’ related experience preferred.
• Familiarity with identifying and documenting cultural resources including archaeological materials and human remains.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS and Survey123 preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Adobe, Word and SharePoint preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Willingness to travel to various job sites and work on-site; able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct background research at historical societies, museums, archives and repositories.
• Perform cultural resource recordation and documentation.
• Conduct subsurface testing for presence/absence.
• Carry out data recovery excavations as needed.
• Perform construction monitoring per agency mitigation measures.
• Conduct records searches at CHRIS information Centers.
• Laboratory analysis; catalog and organize artifacts.
• Prepare technical report sections.
• Maintain field logs timely and accurately.
• Assemble and maintain field equipment; troubleshoot as necessary.
• Perform other duties as requested.
