Job summary

Lake County Sheriff's Office seeks an Animal Enforcement Officer to enforce animal care ordinances and protect public safety. You will respond to service calls, issue citations, and testify in court as needed from the Tavares area.

The role requires carrying out duties under general supervision, including on-call rotations, field investigations, and interaction with the public. Must hold Florida licenses and animal-control certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of college or vocational education in animal control/public safety/law enforcement or related field preferred.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
• Must possess or obtain Animal Control Officer and Chemical Capture certificates.
• Fluent in spoken/written English; good communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Patrols county areas on foot or in vehicles to enforce animal-control laws.
• Investigates complaints about dogs, cats and other animals; takes appropriate action.
• Responds to calls about stray, sick, or dangerous animals; transports to shelter as needed.
• Issues warnings and citations; testifies in court as required.
• Maintains records of daily activities; performs routine clerical duties.
• On-call 24 hours on a rotating schedule.
