Appalachian State University seeks an Olympic Performance Dietitian to lead the Department of Performance Nutrition for Olympic Sports. You will guide a team, manage budgets and purchasing, and build a comprehensive nutrition program that supports injury prevention and peak athletic performance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in nutrition for athletes.
  • Preference for RDN credential and advanced degree.
  • Experience in collegiate or comparable settings as student/GA/intern/fellow/staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Department of Performance Nutrition for Olympic Sports.
  • Oversee purchasing, budgeting, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Develop a comprehensive nutrition program focused on injury prevention and performance.
  • Collaborate daily with student-athletes, administration, coaches, and support staff.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the department and coordinate staff meetings.
  • Direct supervision of nutrition staff and integration with the High Performance Team.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Works under supervision of the Senior Associate AthleticsDirector for Student-Athlete Health and Well-Being.
  2. Assumes responsibility for the leadership, management,development, and oversight of the Department of PerformanceNutrition for Olympic Sports.
  3. Oversees purchasing and budgeting of supplies and equipment forthe Department of Performance Nutrition for Olympic Sports.
  4. Oversees inventory of supplies and equipment for the Departmentof Performance Nutrition for Olympic Sports.
  5. Oversees maintenance of all equipment for the Department ofPerformance Nutrition for Olympic Sports.
  6. Oversees and administers the development of a comprehensivenutrition program for Olympic Sports that focuses on injuryprevention, athletic performance enhancement, and mental disciplinein conjunction with members of the High Performance Team.
  7. Communicate and collaborate with student-athletes,administration, coaches, sports medicine, and other support staffon a daily basis.
  8. Oversees the development, review, and implementation ofdepartmental policies and procedures.
  9. Oversees the operation of the App Fuel Station'sfacilities.
  10. Organizes and administers weekly/monthly Department ofPerformance Nutrition staff meetings.
  11. Serve as a member of the department's High PerformanceTeam.
  12. Attends monthly High Performance Team meetings (whenavailable).
  13. Directly oversees nutrition staff for Department of PerformanceNutrition for Olympic Sports.
  14. Develop strategies to ensure that student-athletes areinstructed and utilize proper nutritional habits.
  15. Facilitate integration of new sport specific nutritionalstrategies.
  16. Develop strategies to maximize athletic performance whileminimizing occurrence of injury in a safe, structured trainingenvironment.
  17. Work in conjunction with the coaches to implement an inclusivenutritional program and implement year round programs.
  18. Maintain a positive visibility.
  19. Oversees the coordination of schedules and needs for App FuelStations.
  20. Maintain continuing education according to the requirements.(Certification)
  21. Abide by the rules as set forth by the National CollegiateAthletic Association, Southern Conference, and SunbeltConference.
  22. Performs miscellaneous related duties.
  23. Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior AssociateAthletics Director for Student-Athlete Health and Well-Being.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Preferred Qualifications

Registered Dietitian (RDN), preferred Master's, and at least oneyear of experience working in a collegiate or comparable setting asa student, GA, intern, fellow, or staff role.Experience
