Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Older Adults Food Service Worker for the Flatbush location. Under supervision, you will prepare and serve lunch and snacks per a planned menu aligned with Department for the Aging guidelines.

You will help maintain kitchen cleanliness, follow health regulations, and support program activities. Requires high school diploma, 1 year of relevant experience, and a valid Food Handler’s License.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year experience working with Older Adults.
• Valid Food Handler’s License.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid.
• Knowledge of sanitation principles and health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of hot and cold food.
• Heat, pan and arrange food items.
• Serve as part of a team to assemble various food items and ingredients as assigned.
• Package and wrap food items according to procedures and portion controls.
• Ensure proper temperature of foods.
• Prepare salads, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, and other foods for distribution.
• Serve meals on serving lines and replenish containers as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
• Operate standard food service equipment (warmer, ovens, sealer).
• Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
