Job summary

The Plant Operator at Scoular will operate equipment for solvent extraction of oil from soybeans and canola, monitor control systems, process samples, and enter data daily. Safety policies must be followed, and operations performed safely.

The role involves 12-hour rotating shifts, equipment checks, and participation in safety programs, with responsibilities spanning distillation, extraction, and the soybean/canola crush plant. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Ability to operate various types of machinery.
• Ability to look at computer screens for a long period of time.
• To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

• Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions
• Ability to work in loud noise environments
• Ability to work in dusty environments
• Ability to work in elevated areas above 4 feet when necessary and in confined spaces
• Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting of up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely
• Ability to adhere to all PPE policies
• Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts
• Open to working overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Control production operations involving many variables (flows, pressures, temperatures, etc.) by observing field temperature gauges, pressure gauges and flow meters frequently to regulate and maintain required process parameters, making adjustments as needed.
• Operate and maintain distillation, extraction, hexane tanks and other equipment that run as a continuous process in the final step of extracting oil from soybeans and canola.
• Operate and maintain the soybean & canola crush plant.
• Daily equipment checks to ensure equipment is functioning and maintained.
• Actively participate in all aspects of safety, including near miss reporting and meetings.
• Monitor equipment and document process log sheet readings.
• Work with chemicals in a PSM environment.
