Job summary

Proxy Legal Staffing & Search Group, in partnership with a leading energy company, seeks a Senior Oil & Gas Title Attorney to support land acquisitions, title analysis, and ownership matters across Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The role involves reviewing title opinions, abstracts, leases, deeds, and agreements; developing title curative strategies; drafting and reviewing leases and related instruments; calculating NRI and WI; and collaborating with internal and external counsel to resolve

Qualifications

• Must hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Active Pennsylvania or West Virginia Bar membership in good standing.
• Minimum 5+ years of oil and gas title experience, including abstracting, title opinion review or drafting, and title curative resolution.

Responsibilities

• Review title opinions, abstracts, leases, deeds, and oil and gas agreements to determine ownership and identify title risks.
• Develop title curative and mitigation recommendations and coordinate resolutions.
• Support land acquisitions, including drafting and reviewing leases, deeds, amendments, ratifications, and pooling declarations.
• Approve title for payment on lease and fee acquisitions.
• Review heirship documents and calculate Net Revenue Interest (NRI) and Working Interest (WI).
• Support Division Orders with title and ownership information for royalty distribution.
• Draft legal memoranda and collaborate with internal Legal teams and outside counsel on title issues and litigation.
• Conduct due diligence for land transactions and support special projects.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.
