Job summary

Hilcorp in Houston seeks a geologist to interpret and integrate subsurface data to identify economically viable oil and gas opportunities. You will develop maps, cross sections and displays defining structure, reservoir geometry and hydrocarbon potential.

Responsibilities include using geologic databases and mapping tools, interpreting logs and seismic data, and coordinating on-site open-hole evaluations with service vendors. Bachelor's in geology required; Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in geological oil and gas development or exploration.
  • Proficiency in PETRA or other geologic database and mapping software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be available on-call and to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and evaluate subsurface geologic data to create maps, cross sections, and displays defining subsurface structure and hydrocarbon potential.
  • Use databases and mapping programs according to established company standards.
  • Interpret well logs, petrophysics, seismic data to define drilling and production objectives.
  • Coordinate on-site open-hole evaluations and work with vendors.
