Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking an OIG System Operations Administrator to oversee the office’s IT infrastructure, security, and technology assets. This full-time exempt role reports to the Inspector General and focuses on systems administration and project delivery for investigations.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of systems administration experience, including network and server management, with strong privacy and compliance awareness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in systems administration, including network and server management.
  • Experience coordinating technology projects and operations, including budgets and vendor management.
  • Experience supporting enterprise information systems and knowledge of data privacy and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and administers all OIG IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Maintains and supports server infrastructure, LAN, G‑Suite, website, and dedicated applications.
  • Designs and monitors network security, access controls, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Coordinates system maintenance with CPS WAN and internal IT teams.
  • Acts as technical advisor for investigations and large-scale projects.
  • Oversees IT procurement, vendor liaison, and budget planning.
  • Trains staff on office software and digital tools; creates training materials.
  • Ensures CPS databases and assets are accessible to the OIG and compliant.
