Job summary

Onterris is seeking an OGI Field Technician (Travel) to perform hydrocarbon fugitive emission and leak detection work in field environments. You will use industry-leading technologies to detect methane emissions, travel to multiple facilities, and support data collection and reporting.

Compensation ranges from $50k to $60k per year plus overtime, depending on experience and location. Responsibilities include coordinating travel via maps and GPS, calibrating equipment, and compiling field

Qualifications

  • Experience in Oil & Gas industry; LDAR or emission testing preferred.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office; Android OS experience helpful.
  • Able to work 12-hour shifts, travel, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Technical degree or diploma preferred; related field experience considered.

A Day in the Life

As an OGI Field Technician (Travel), you’ll be responsible for performing hydrocarbon fugitive emission and/or leak detection of facilities in the Oil and Gas Industry in field environments. Must work with industry‑leading technologies used to detect and measure methane gas emissions. Compensation range: $50–60k/yr plus overtime, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in coordinating and navigating to various facilities with maps and GPS.
  • Help calibrate and maintain equipment.
  • Use various detection and measurement technologies under the supervision of the Team Lead.
  • Travel to local projects as well as national travel.
  • Collect and record emission data.
  • Prepare field reports as required.
Expertise and Skills
  • Experience in Oil and Gas industry (preference given to candidates with natural gas processing/transmission facility experience).
  • Effective computer skills (Excel and Microsoft Office essential) and proficiency with Android OS.
  • Must be able to work 12‑hour shifts (days only).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Preference for an associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology or applicable technical degree/diploma; related work experience in hydrocarbon detection and measurement, LDAR, instrumentation or stack emission testing or a mechanical background are preferred but not mandatory.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Must walk and/or stand while handling/carrying technical equipment for extended periods.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights safely.
  • Must lift 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Must work outdoors in all‑weather conditions.
  • Must climb ladders and stairs.
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be willing to travel.
