Job summary

Genesis Energy, L.P. is seeking a corrosion control technician in Port Arthur, TX to support pipeline integrity. The role focuses on cathodic protection systems, testing, maintenance, and regulatory documentation. You will work with corrosion engineers to ensure safe and compliant operation of the pipeline network.

The position requires 3 years’ experience, NACE CP-1 certification, and the ability to supervise outside contractors. Some travel and a valid driver's license are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years’ experience in cathodic protection.
• NACE CP-1 Cathodic Protection Tester certification.
• Self-starter, able to work with limited supervision.
• Familiar with local, state and federal regulations.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook; PCS experience preferred.
• Capable of supervising outside contractors; willing to travel.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, test, maintain, install, repair, and operate corrosion control equipment for crude oil pipelines.
• Conduct surveys, tests, and data collection; prepare reports to maintain pipeline integrity.
• Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with corrosion engineers to ensure standards; support safety programs.
• Oversee outside contractors and report issues to Pipeline Manager.
• Adhere to DOT regulations; participate in OQ training as required.

Key Duties:

• Responsible for a variety of tasks involved in troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating corrosion control equipment for crude oil pipelines.
• Conducts surveys and tests, gathers data and prepares reports to maintain the integrity of the pipeline system.
• Maintains the required documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Works with corrosion engineers to assure the pipeline system is operating at the required standards.
• Responsible for meeting the performance training requirements as set by the Company and local/federal agencies.
• Supervise outside contractors performing work on the pipeline system.
• Promptly reports any suspected or potential problem areas to local Pipeline Manager.
• Maintains a knowledge and awareness of local, state and federal regulations and advises management of any impact.
• Successfully complete OQ (Operator Qualifications) training on the tasks performed.
• Participates in and promotes the Company’s safety program to coworkers.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• High school diploma or GED;
• 3 years’ experience in cathodic protection;
• NACE certification; CP-1 Cathodic Protection Tester;
• Must be a self-starter, responsible and able to work with very limited supervision;
• Must be familiar with all local, state and federal regulations;
• Proficient with Microsoft suite products, Word, Excel, and Outlook;
• Must be capable of supervising outside contractors;
• May require some travel;
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record;
• Pipeline Compliance Systems (PCS) - Allegro Field Data PC preferred.
• This position must adhere to applicable D.O.T. regulations and/or is considered a Safety Sensitive position, and as such, is subject to pre-employment and random Drug and Alcohol testing.
