Job summary

Genesis Energy, L.P. is seeking a corrosion control technician to maintain and troubleshoot cathodic protection systems on crude oil pipelines. You will perform tests, gather data, and prepare reports to protect pipeline integrity and comply with regulations.

You will collaborate with corrosion engineers, supervise outside contractors, and participate in safety programs. A high school diploma or GED, 3 years in cathodic protection, NACE CP-1, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of cathodic protection experience.
• NACE CP-1 certification required.
• Must work with limited supervision and be a self-starter.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to supervise outside contractors.
• May require travel and a valid driver’s license.
• PCS Allegro Field Data PC preferred.
• This position follows DOT safety requirements including pre-employment and random testing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with corrosion engineers to meet standards.
• Meet performance training requirements set by Company and agencies.
• Supervise outside contractors performing work on the pipeline system.
• Report suspected issues to the Pipeline Manager promptly.
• Stay informed on local, state, and federal regulations and advise management.
• Complete OQ training for performed tasks.
• Participate in and promote the Company’s safety program.

Key Duties:

• Responsible for a variety of tasks involved in troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating corrosion control equipment for crude oil pipelines.
• Conducts surveys and tests, gathers data and prepares reports to maintain the integrity of the pipeline system.
• Maintains the required documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Works with corrosion engineers to assure the pipeline system is operating at the required standards.
• Responsible for meeting the performance training requirements as set by the Company and local/federal agencies.
• Supervise outside contractors performing work on the pipeline system.
• Promptly reports any suspected or potential problem areas to local Pipeline Manager.
• Maintains a knowledge and awareness of local, state and federal regulations and advises management of any impact.
• Successfully complete OQ (Operator Qualifications) training on the tasks performed.
• Participates in and promotes the Company’s safety program to coworkers.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• High school diploma or GED;
• 3 years’ experience in cathodic protection;
• NACE certification; CP-1 Cathodic Protection Tester;
• Must be a self-starter, responsible and able to work with very limited supervision;
• Must be familiar with all local, state and federal regulations;
• Proficient with Microsoft suite products, Word, Excel, and Outlook;
• Must be capable of supervising outside contractors;
• May require some travel;
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record;
• Pipeline Compliance Systems (PCS) - Allegro Field Data PC preferred.
• This position must adhere to applicable D.O.T. regulations and/or is considered a Safety Sensitive position, and as such, is subject to pre-employment and random Drug and Alcohol testing.
