Chouest is seeking an experienced welder to join our shipyard operations in Gulfport, MS. The role involves welding structural components, reading blueprints, and applying proper techniques across multiple positions.

You will follow safety protocols and may travel between Edison Chouest offshore locations as required. Candidates should have 3–5 years of welding experience, be able to pass multiple groove weld tests, and work with 100% CO2 on 1" plate.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of welding experience required.
• Must be able to pass 3G (Vertical) and 4G (Overhead) groove welding tests.
• Must be able to read and write alphabetically and numerically.
• Experience welding with 100% CO2 and working with 1" plate.

Responsabilités

• Determine proper weld procedure from blueprints, drawings, or supervisor instruction.
• Use electric or fuel welding equipment with correct amperage/voltage.
• Select electrode wire and set welding unit; strike arc and weld to form fusion.
• Weld in flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead and diagonal positions; inspect bead size and quality.
• Clean welds and prep joints; preheat if necessary; remove excess metal as needed.
• Cut metal plates or shapes; position and clamp workpieces; tack weld as needed.
• Visually inspect welds for adherence to specifications; grind if required.
• Perform incidental tasks: transport tools, operate cranes and company vehicles.
