Job summary

Stoke Space seeks a Marine Recovery Engineer to build and execute offshore recovery campaigns for the Nova launch vehicle. You will locate, capture, and recover flight hardware from the open ocean and return it safely to port, developing CONOPS and procedures from concept to live recovery.

You will lead unconventional at-sea techniques, coordinate with vessels, and oversee engineering aspects across Florida and Washington to enable rapid return-to-launch and high cadence operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in offshore operations including salvage or at-sea retrieval
• Direct experience chartering and directing support vessels
• Hands-on lifting, crane, rigging, or towing operations
• Ability to develop recovery from first principles in dynamic seas
• Experience adapting vessels/equipment for new uses
• Bachelor's degree in naval/marine/mechanical engineering

Responsibilities

• Develop and own recovery CONOPS for ocean hardware across sea states
• Prove out unconventional at-sea capture and transit techniques
• Plan and lead offshore recovery campaigns and demonstrations
• Lead vessel strategy and integration of support vessels
• Serve as engineering lead for recovery hardware and systems
• Develop safety cases, risk assessments, and procedures for offshore crews
• Coordinate across Florida and Washington engineering/ops teams
• Understand Nova and ensure recovery enables rapid return-to-launch
