Job summary

Gulf Island seeks an Offshore Crane Operator to operate main and deck cranes offshore in the Gulf of America. You will perform pre-lift planning, JSAs, and maintain documentation while ensuring compliance with API RP 2D and 30 CFR 250.198.

Responsibilities include inspections, safe lift execution, communication with signalman, and maintaining rigging and equipment in good condition in variable weather and sea states.

Qualifications

• Operate cranes within SWL limits per derating tables.
• Complete and document inspections; report discrepancies.
• Maintain crane per API RP 2D and keep documentation up to date.
• Use equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Verify safety devices are functional and perform tests.
• Participate in planning, JSA and pre-lift safety meetings.
• Verify communication with signalman before lifts.
• Confirm crane capacity under weather and other factors.
• Consider dynamic factors and check load charts for safety.
• Know load weight, CG, path and ensure landing area is clear.

Responsibilities

• Know weight, CG, and path; ensure landing area is clear.
• Maintain safe crane operations and controlled motions.
• Position crane safely during helicopter operations.
• Cradle boom under severe weather/night conditions.
• Follow Diving Ops Plan during diving operations.
• Inspect slings/rigging and prevent damage.
• Know rigging equipment limits.
