Job summary

Talos Energy seeks an Automation Engineer for offshore operations in the Houston area. You will support asset-aligned automation, troubleshoot PLC/HMI/SCADA, and coordinate with I&E, facilities, IT, and vendors to improve reliability and safety of offshore production systems.

The role requires 5+ years in automation with offshore experience, strong troubleshooting, and leadership. Travel offshore as needed, and participate in lifecycle activities from design to closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of automation, controls, SCADA, or OT experience in oil & gas, offshore preferred.
• Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA interfaces and live production assets.
• Knowledge of offshore production automation, ESD, safety systems, and network concepts.
• Ability to read, troubleshoot, and develop PLC logic and HMI displays.

Responsibilities

• Provide asset-aligned automation support for offshore operations, including troubleshooting and commissioning.
• Lead structured troubleshooting for PLC, HMI, SCADA, and historian data issues.
• Coordinate with OT systems, cybersecurity, and data reliability teams.
• Review MOCs for automation, I&E, alarms, and documentation impacts.
• Source, select, and manage OT vendors and integrators.
