Job summary

The Offset 2nd Pressperson at Smurfit Westrock in Chattanooga assists the 1st Pressperson in operating the Offset Press and will be trained in all aspects of the press operation.

You will perform safety and quality checks, manage the press feed, prep for the next production run (sheets, plates, ink), and help train other press personnel. Overtime is required and you may take over duties during absences.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating manuals.
• May require writing routine reports and communicating with groups.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and handle measurements.

The Opportunity

The Offset 2nd Pressperson is responsible for assisting the 1st Pressperson in the overall operation of the Offset Press. This person will be trained in all aspects of the Offset Press operation.

• Must be able to take over the 1st Pressperson’s duties during absences.
• Assist in training other press personnel.

What you need to succeed

• High school diploma or GED minimum
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and basic computer skills
