Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care in Meridian, MS is seeking a Security Officer to patrol the campus, protect patients, visitors and staff, and serve as a professional ambassador for the organization.

The role includes responding to incidents, enforcing policies, completing reports, and coordinating safety and emergency procedures with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in security, healthcare setting, law enforcement, or military.
• Education equivalent to 4 years of high school or higher.
• Possess or able to obtain First Aid, CPR, de-escalation, restraints, Mississippi Security Guard Firearms Permit, firearms qualification, armed guard training, OC/pepper spray/baton/Taser certification.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the entire campus to deter crime and address safety hazards.
• Provide customer service to patients, visitors and employees while following site policies and emergency procedures.
• Respond to disruptive behavior, disturbances, alarms, and incidents.
• Enforce hospital policies and, when needed, state/local laws for campus safety.
• Submit reports promptly and professionally.
• Escort money transfers and secure patient valuables as directed; provide non-monetary escorts as needed.
• Control parking and supervise parking areas, including emergency zones.
• Conduct regular and random patrols and complete assigned goals.

Job Summary

Patrols and protects the entire campus, inside and outside; responds to all incidents or calls relating to the safety and security of all persons and property on the campus. Officers are expected to demonstrate exemplary customer service skills and maintain a professional appearance while serving as ambassadors of the organization. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the entire campus for the purpose of deterring crime and initiating corrective actions on any physical security or safety hazards identified.
• Provides customer service to our patients, visitors, and employees carrying out safety and security procedures, site‑specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Responds to all calls for disruptive behavior, disturbances, and combative patients, and incidents, as well as internal or external alarms.
• Understands, complies, and enforces hospital policy and procedure. As needed, enforces State and Local laws/ordinances to ensure the safety and security of all persons and property on campus.
• Submits all necessary reports in a prompt and professional manner.
• Performs escorts related to money transfers, as directed by facility policy. Will secure patient valuables upon request. Will perform non-monetary escorts for staff, visitors, physicians, and patients upon request for the safety and security of the requesting party.
• Controls all parking on the property, emphasizing parking in critical and/or emergency parking areas.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and completes assigned goals.

• 1 year experience in the security field, and healthcare setting or law enforcement, or military experience.

Education

Minimum Required

• Appropriate education. Knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to completion of 4 years of high school, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. High school graduate or higher.

Training

Minimum Required

• Possess or have the ability to complete First aid, CPR, De-escalation techniques, proper and safe restraints techniques, obtain Mississippi Security Guard Firearms Permit, meet minimum firearms qualification, complete armed guard training, and OC, Pepper Spray, Baton, or Taser Certification.

Preferred/Desired

• Completion of CIT Training and Taser Certification preferred.
