Kern County is seeking a Full Office Services Technician to support clerical and administrative tasks across county departments, with emphasis on accuracy and courteous customer service.
Required: High School Diploma or GED and two years of clerical, general computer, and office experience, or an equivalent education/experience combination; proficiency with Microsoft Word or WordPerfect is preferred.
Shift Work: Library branches may be open various days and hours of the week, to include evenings and weekends.
Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of inventory maintenance principles; customer service principles; standard office procedures, methods, and equipment; basic filing and recordkeeping principles; basic mathematical concepts; English language, grammar, and punctuation.
Applicants must attain at least 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination.
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and two years of clerical, general computer and office experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
