The role requires a California-registered civil engineer and substantial state service experience at senior, supervisory, or broad transportation engineering levels, with strong coordination with external agencies and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
• Experience: One year of transportation engineering experience as a senior level engineer in the California state service.
• Or II: One year of supervisory or managerial experience equivalent in level to a Senior Transportation Planner in the California state service.
• Two years of civil engineering work at the Associate Engineer level or higher in the California state service.
• Or III: Broad and extensive (more than five years) transportation engineering experience, two years of which are equivalent in responsibility to the senior level engineer in the California state service.

Responsibilities

• Under the general supervision of the Division Chief for Transportation Safety in D4 Traffic Operations, the incumbent serves as the Office Chief of Traffic Safety Engineering and Signing. The incumbent is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and managing District 4's Safety Programs within nine San Francisco Bay Area counties.
• The incumbent coordinates safety and project delivery activities, partners with external agencies, analyzes complex technical and financial situations, provides responses to internal and external inquiries, resolves technical issues and oversees program/project resources, schedules, and targets.
