Job summary

Caltrans seeks an Office Chief, Office of Construction Standards, in Sacramento to lead the Construction Standards office with a focus on state-wide contract administration, directives, and training. The role reports to the Deputy Division Chief of Construction and drives policies and specifications across the department.

The position requires a California registered Civil Engineer and substantial transportation engineering leadership experience within the state service.

Qualifications

• Valid California civil engineer registration required.
• One year of transportation engineering experience at senior level (CA state service) or
• One year of supervisory/managerial experience at Senior Transportation Planner level plus two years of civil engineering at Associate level+ in CA state service.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Construction Standards office under the Deputy Division Chief (Principal Transportation Engineer).
• Develop and implement the division's business plan and focus areas; direct staff to support district construction staff.
• Develop specifications, construction directives, and other Department directives; update manuals and provide training.
