The State of Alaska, Department of Corrections, Wildwood Correctional Center in Kenai, Alaska, is seeking an Office Assistant 2 to provide essential clerical support within a secure facility.

This position provides comprehensive clerical support to all facility staff, including the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Administrative Officer II, Probation Officer, and Criminal Justice Technician.
The position prepares required administrative reports such as weekly vacancy updates, weekly pass‑ons, telephone and unit lists, and the Superintendent’s end‑of‑month report.
Additional duties include conducting background checks for contractors and visitors, managing the weekly UA process, and filing results in confidential prisoner files.
This position also provides front desk coverage as needed, including answering phones, greeting the public, and processing incoming visitors and guests.

You will be working at Wildwood Correctional Complex, located approximately three miles north of Kenai, in an office setting within a close‑knit administrative team. This role provides essential support to daily facility operations and contributes to a collaborative, professional work environment.
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
High school diploma or the equivalent.
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
“High school diploma equivalent” means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
