Job summary

Voith Hydro in York, PA is seeking an Offer Project Manager II to lead strategic proposals from RFQ to contract award and handover to OTC. You will guide a proposal team with a broad technical background in energy and interact with multiple disciplines to ensure winning bids.

The role requires strong communication, scheduling and cost-estimation skills, and willingness to travel as needed to engage customers and negotiate contracts for hydro projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, project management or related discipline.
• Five years of experience in the power generation industry preferred, with two years in hydro generation.
• Broad technical background related to energy sector.
• Sales and proposal preparation experience preferred with understanding of basic project financial concepts, estimation and risk management.
• Strong computer skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated, self-directed, detail-oriented and thorough.
• Proven capability to lead multi-disciple teams for development and preparation of complex proposals.
• Ability to construct and manage schedules for complex proposals and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively with and through others.
• Ability to travel as required for customer discussions and negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrating practices and managing all internal and external commitments from Direction Setting to signing the Contract during the Offer-to-Order (OTO) phase of a project.
• Providing proposal team leadership in Conceptual Engineering, scheduling, and cost calculation during the OTO process.
• Working with the Execution (OTC) Team at Contract negotiation phase.
• Leading the proposal effort and authoring offers for projects, including modernization or new hydro projects.
• Lead technical meetings and present to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the Sales Team to negotiate and secure the project.
• Prepare and conduct handover and design review meetings to transfer awarded contracts to Project Management or Engineering Project Leaders.

Summary

The Offer Project Manager II (OPM-II) is a strategically oriented, self-starting individual with a strong technical background who interacts with various technical and commercial disciplines, and provides proposal team leadership and guidance to proposal team members. A broad knowledge of the company’s products and processes is required. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the development of proposals for projects from receipt of Request for Quotation to Contract Award and Handover to OTC.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrating practices and managing all internal and external commitments from Direction Setting to signing the Contract during the Offer-to-Order (OTO) phase of a project.
• Providing proposal team leadership in Conceptual Engineering, scheduling, and cost calculation during the OTO process.
• Working together with the Execution (Order-to-Cash (OTC)) Team at Contract negotiation phase.
• Leading the proposal effort and authoring the offers for projects assigned, which may consist of competitively bid modernization or new hydro projects.
• Be able to lead technical meetings and offer presentations both internally and externally.
• Support the Sales Team to negotiate and secure the project.
• Prepare and conduct handover and design review meetings to transfer awarded contracts to Project Management or Engineering Project Leaders depending on scope of project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management or related discipline.

• Previous sales and proposal preparation experience is preferred with an understanding of basic project financial concepts, project estimation, and risk management strategies.
• Strong computer skills with good working understanding of Microsoft Office products.

• Proven capability to lead multi-disciple teams for the development and preparation of complex proposals.
• Ability to construct and manage the schedule for the preparation of complex proposals, with a commitment to maintaining and achieving deadlines.

• Ability to travel as required for customer discussions and negotiations.
