# Offensive Assistant## Quad City Steamwheelers•### @quadcitysteamwheelersPosted on 9/23/2026•Full-time## Job Description**Department:** Football Operations **Reports To:** Head Coach / Offensive Coordinator **League:** Indoor Football League (IFL)**Position Summary:**The **Offensive Assistant** will assist with the preparation, development, and execution of the Quad City Steamwheelers' offensive unit.This position will support all areas of the offense, including player development, film breakdown, opponent scouting, offensive installations, practice preparation, personnel evaluation, and game-day adjustments. The Offensive Assistant may work with multiple offensive position groups based on the needs of the coaching staff.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of offensive football, player development, film study, and game preparation. \\*\\*Prior indoor or arena football experience is preferred. \\*\\***Key Responsibilities****Offensive Coaching & Player Development*** Assist with coaching and developing players across the offensive unit, including quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs, and offensive linemen.* Help teach proper fundamentals, technique, alignment, assignments, and execution within the team's offensive system.* Conduct individual and position-group drills as assigned by the Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator.* Assist with offensive position meetings, practices, walkthroughs, and film sessions.* Help offensive players understand defensive fronts, coverages, blitz packages, personnel, and opponent tendencies.* Evaluate player performance through practice and game film and provide instruction and feedback.* Cross-train offensive personnel at multiple positions when necessary to maximize roster flexibility and game-day depth.* Help players adjust to the unique spacing, pace, timing, and physical demands of indoor football.\\*\\*Offensive Scheme & Game Preparation \\*\\** Assist the Offensive Coordinator with the development and implementation of weekly offensive game plans.* Utilize Hudl or similar digital film platforms to break down opposing defenses and identify tendencies.* Analyze defensive fronts, coverages, blitz packages, personnel, alignments, and situational tendencies.* Assist with offensive scouting reports, play sheets, personnel packages, protections, and situational preparation.* Help install and reinforce the team's offensive system during meetings, practices, and walkthroughs.* Assist with the development and execution of the passing game, run game, protections, screens, RPOs, and situational offense.* Communicate defensive adjustments and opponent tendencies during games to assist with offensive adjustments.* Maintain a strong understanding of IFL rules and how they impact offensive formations, motion, protections, blocking, and overall scheme.**Film Study & Scouting*** Assist with breaking down opponent game film and identifying defensive strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies.* Track defensive personnel, fronts, coverages, pressures, and situational tendencies.* Assist the Offensive Coordinator in preparing weekly scouting materials and game-plan information.* Help organize and maintain offensive film, playbook materials, and weekly installation information.* Assist with self-scouting to identify offensive tendencies and areas for improvement.**Player Personnel & Recruiting*** Assist the coaching and football operations staff with evaluating and recruiting offensive players.* Review prospective player film and provide evaluations and recommendations.* Assist with tryouts, training camp evaluations, roster decisions, and player development.* Help identify athletic and versatile offensive players capable of transitioning from the traditional outdoor game to the speed and spacing of indoor football.* Assist with maintaining offensive depth within the IFL's limited roster structure.**Football Operations Support*** Assist the Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and football operations staff with day-to-day team responsibilities as needed.* Support training camp, practices, team meetings, travel, player personnel, and game-day operations.* Help ensure players understand and comply with team and IFL rules, policies, and expectations.* Maintain professionalism when representing the Quad City Steamwheelers during games, travel, community appearances, and team events.* Perform additional football-related responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, or front office.**Qualifications / Requirements*** **Experience:** Previous offensive coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate, indoor/arena, or professional level preferred. **Prior indoor/arena football experience is a plus.*** **Offensive Knowledge:** Strong understanding of offensive fundamentals, formations, passing concepts, run schemes, protections, defensive recognition, and situational football.* **Indoor Football Knowledge:** Understanding of indoor/arena football rules, spacing, motion, field dimensions, defensive restrictions, and differences between the indoor and traditional outdoor game preferred.* **Technology:** Experience with Hudl or similar digital film breakdown and scouting platforms preferred.* **Leadership:** Ability to effectively teach, communicate, motivate, and develop professional football players while working collaboratively with the offensive coaching staff.* **Adaptability:** Willingness to work with multiple offensive position groups and handle various coaching and operational responsibilities within a lean, fast-paced professional football environment.* **Availability:** Ability to work practices, games, meetings, training camp, team travel, and
