Job summary

Quad City Steamwheelers are seeking a proactive Social Media Intern to support digital content and storytelling across Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and more during the 2027 season.

You'll help plan content, capture footage at practices and games, publish posts, and assist with written content for SteamwheelersFootball.com and other channels.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed degree in communications, marketing, journalism, sports management, digital media, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of major social media platforms and current digital trends.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; creative and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience operating a camera and capturing quality photo/video content.
• Basic video editing experience preferred; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and executing the team's social media content calendar.
• Create, edit, proofread, and publish content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok).
• Capture photo and video content at practices, games, and events.
• Provide real-time social media coverage during home games.
• Develop creative content featuring players, coaches, fans, sponsors, and behind-the-scenes activities.
• Support content strategies to increase engagement and brand awareness.
• Monitor trends and identify opportunities to incorporate them into content.
• Assist with short-form video content for Reels and TikTok.
• Assist with writing/editing content for team sites and communications.
• Participate in meetings and contribute ideas; apply feedback.
