Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking aRegistered Nurse to join the Operating Room team. This role supports perioperative nursing care, coordinates the surgical team, and advocates for patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program preferred, but not required.
• One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is preferred.
• Experience in General, Gynecology and Urology surgery is required.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
• Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
• Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
• Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Responsibilities

• The RN in the Operating Room circulates and coordinates the surgical team in all aspects of OR activities, providing for optimum perioperative nursing care.
• Functions as the patient's advocate.
• Coordinate nursing care, direct patient care, education and transitions of care.
• Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care.
• Work within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, including planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care.
• Demonstrate leadership through preceptor roles and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegate patient care according to skill level, patient acuity and resources.
• Maintain excellent communication, mentoring and teaching; participate in committees or projects.
