As a Correctional Corporal, you will serve as a key member of our security team, providing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody (AICs). This role is essential in upholding the mission of the Department by ensuring a safe, secure, and rehabilitative environment for both staff and individuals in custody. You will be responsible for supervising AICs in various areas, including housing units, control points, program and work assignments, and designated security areas. Maintaining order enforcing institutional rules will be a critical aspect of the role, along with responding to emergencies and critical incidents with professionalism and sound judgement. You will also assist in training and mentoring staff.
You must be a current ODOC Correctional Corporal employee to be considered for a lateral transfer request. Lateral transfer requests are posted by institution. You must be currently DPSST certified to request a lateral. The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
