Job summary

WGI Inc. seeks an experienced machinist to set up, operate, and program grinding equipment, ensuring components meet tight tolerances. You will study blueprints, attach fixtures, and verify finished parts against specifications, with a focus on efficiency and quality.

Applicant should be able to read drawings, perform measurements, document results, and be willing to cross-train on multiple machines as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Sets up machine with tooling and fixtures as required.
  • Studies blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Runs grinding operations and verifies conformance to specs.
  • Inspects parts and completes paperwork for produced parts.
  • Cross-trains on different controls and multiple machines.

Job description

  • Sets up required machine with necessary tooling and fixtures.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece.
  • Runs OD Grind job according to set-up sheet and quality procedure.
  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on the specified machine.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Inspects machined part and verifies conformance of finished part to specifications. Completes necessary paperwork for completed part.
  • Makes various tooling and fixtures when required.
  • Performs machine and wheel maintenance when necessary.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Willing and able to be cross trained on different controls and multiple machines when required.

Skills:

  • Computer – ability to learn and work with Visual software, Manufacturing software, Database software and Word processing.
  • Communication – good command of the English language with clear and easily understood diction. Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write reports, letters, emails and faxes; ability to speak effectively in “one on one” and group situations; ability to communicate and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Reasoning – ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; ability to prioritize, multi-task and problem solve.

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous machining experience required, job shop experience and/or training required.
  • Mathematical Skills including ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, are, circumference and volume. Machine shop math ability.
