Job summary

Ultimate Staffing is partnered with an aerospace manufacturer in Macomb County, Michigan, to fill an OD Grinder role on a DIRECT HIRE basis. 2nd shift, 50–55 hours/week, compensation $28–$32/hour.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up and operating CNC OD/ID grinding on Studer machines with FANUC controls, maintaining print tolerances, performing SPC data documentation, and conducting in-process and final inspections. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and product specifications.
• Translate prints with GD&T understanding.
• Set up and operate Studer CNC grinders with FANUC controls.
• Proficient with cylindrical grinding and precision measuring tools.
• Maintain accuracy with SPC data and documentation.

Job description

Ultimate staffing is working with an aerospace manufacturing client in Macomb County on an immediate opening for an OD Grinder. This is a DIRECT HIRE role, 2nd shift working 50-55 hours/week, $28-32/hour

OD Grinder Responsibilities:

• Reads, interprets and follows blueprints, sketches, and product/engineering specifications


• Set up and and operate CNC OD and ID grind equipment with minimal supervision on a Studer grinding machine.


• Make adjustments as required to maintain print specifications


• Grind of spline shafts and aircraft gears holding tolerances of .0001\" - .0005\"


• Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and participate in certified operator program.


• Inspect faces and diameters using micrometers, gages and amps


• Perform in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges.


• Perform operator maintenance.


• Perform the required measurements to assure product quality


• Notify your Leader of all nonconforming product


• Other duties as assigned

OD Grinder Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude


• Working knowledge of Inspection Devices and Instruments


• Ability to translate prints along with understanding of GD&T


• Experience using Studer OD Grinder, FANUC controls using G code


• Experience with Cylindrical grinding machines


• Proficiency in the use of a wide variety of precision measuring tools are required.


• Ability to utilize visual comparator and Precision Gear Check Equipment
