The practice serves a diverse population, including working professionals, athletes, new parents, and older adults, with a focus on recovery, prevention, and functional independence. Clinicians deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care for conditions involving the upper extremity, neck, and nervous system, and also address select lower extremity and mobility concerns that impact safety and daily participation. Hands On Therapy operates outpatient clinics in Pikesville, Catonsville, Columbia, Annapolis, and White Marsh, and offers rehabilitation services in assisted living communities to support residents in maintaining independence, safety, and quality of life.

Role Description The Occupational Therapist – Hand Therapy role is a full-time, on-site position based in Baltimore, MD. The therapist will evaluate and treat clients with upper extremity and related neuromuscular conditions, developing individualized treatment plans that support functional use of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Day-to-day responsibilities include administering standardized and non-standardized assessments, providing manual therapy and therapeutic exercises, fabricating custom orthoses/splints as appropriate, and delivering patient education for home programs, injury prevention, and safe participation in daily activities. The role involves documentation of clinical findings and progress notes, collaboration with referring providers and interdisciplinary team members, and participation in quality improvement and continuing education activities. The therapist will also contribute to clinic operations by managing caseloads efficiently, maintaining a safe treatment environment, and supporting the practice’s patient-centered care standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed (or license-eligible) Occupational Therapist in the state of Maryland; graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Experience or strong interest in hand therapy, including evaluation and treatment of upper extremity conditions and fabrication of custom splints/orthoses; prior outpatient or orthopedic clinical experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive assessments, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and document clearly and accurately in electronic medical records.
• Strong patient education skills, with the ability to explain conditions, treatment plans, and home programs in clear, understandable language and to motivate patients toward functional goals.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with patients, families, referring providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Ability to manage time and caseload efficiently in a busy clinical environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing schedules and patient needs.
• Commitment to ethical, culturally responsive, and inclusive practice; sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, ages, and functional needs.
